Andrew J. Higgins Jr., right, yesterday was elected president of Higgins, Inc., at a meeting of the board of directors. He succeeds his father, Andrew J. Higgins Sr., founder of the world famous firm, who died August 1. His brother, Frank O. Higgins, left, was named vice-president and general manager Michael Macheca, center, was elected vice-president and treasurer. Not shown is Lee Calongne, who was elected secretary. The two brothers worked more than 20 years with their father in various interests. Macheca came to the Higgins aircraft plant at Michoud 11 years ago and previously held the office of secretary-treasurer. Calogne was recently president of Las American Shipping Company, a subsidiary of Higgins now liquidated.
