1949 Press Photo Julian Codian poses as a log in the woods on "People Are Funny"

Julian Codian poses as a log in the woods on "People Are Funny." Snoring like a log, contestant Julian O.P. Codian, geologist and nature lover, soon realized that life in the woods has its dangers--on an Art Linkletter "People Are Funny" show. Linkletter holds the mike. The guy helping Codian play a log as uncomfortably as possible is show's producer, toupe-topped John Guedel. After being sat on by a pair of lovers,a jar of ants, a skunk, five baby chicks and a watering-can of "rain," Codian won $100. "He's a kick, that guy." "Talk about people, he's really funny." That was the terse comment of one of Art Linkletter's most harried, still worried contestants today. Last night the handsome, prancing, electric-eyed quiz-show emcee put P.L. Chatelain through a harrowing experience on his "People Are Funny" show.
